What is a good trolling rod/reel for a beginner?

philtheskipper I need to buy 4 rods/reels for trolling Lake Erie for walleye. I'm new to this so I don't have a clue as to what to get. I want a line counter on the reel. Will be using Dipsey Divers. Don't want the cheapest but don't want to empty my wallet either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

SeaRay245 good setup for beginners is the diawa combe lc47 reel and rod has a line counter and all I got mine for 75 bucks apiece new and have used them for 3 years now with no problems...remember to reline your reel each year a missed fish due to bad line is your own mistake 2001-11-06
