Can a downrigger rod be used to troll with deap sea divers?

philtheskipper Is there a difference? The downrigger rods are usually a foot or so shorter which would suit me better in my 17 foot boat. 2001-08-16
J.B. Cornwell I don't see why not, Phil. Downrigger rods are usually softer in the tip, but we trolled Pink Ladies and Dipsey predecessors on casting rods with great success in the 70s. You might miss a strike now and then, but you wont have big bucks invested in specialized equipment, either.

Good luck.
