Humminbird wide eye fish finder doesn't work??

Skidooosl I have a humming bird wide eye fishfinder, I just got the boat and put a new floor and foam and everything in it, before I took the depth finder off it seemed to work, it gave a wrong reading on the trailer (said it was like 55 feet deep and going 20mph) but now when I hooked it back up it turns on but doesn't show anything on the screen, I've tried unplugging the transducer and turning it back on and it does the exact same thing with the transducer unplugged, does anyone know what could be wrong here???
Thank You

derwood you have a Humminbird. [Razz] I've found that the humming birds don't get a good review on the forums. I am just here to say that not many people visit the f. forum on a regular basis so it my be a little while before you get an answer. these guys do know their stuff and you will get a good answer when you get one. don't give up. J.B. Cornwell Howdy, Skidooosl.

You may have burned it out running it without the transducer in water, or running it without the transducer connected. The transceiver requires a load.

If you have nothing at all on the screen, there is just a possibility that it has blown a fuse or lost contact with 12v.

Humminbirds do not have a good reputation.

Good luck.

Skidooosl the depth finder seems to work, it scrolls and stuff but it never shows anything at all or says a depth. you can just see the line at the top scroll across the screen, is there a way to test the transducer??? where would a blown fuse be?? are they inside the depthfinder its self?? is the only wire that I need to worry about hooking up for the transducer the wire with a 3 prong plug that I believe says t2 on it that plugs into the depth finder?? Thanks for the help 2002-04-12
ebbtide176 I have a HB Wide100. it has the XHS-6-16 transducer. the xducer just connects with the single cable to the DepthFinder unit. mine had the inline fuse from DF unit, which I tucked below deck on the front mounted unit I installed. so possibly, you can trace the cables from the unit, and look for the red wire going to power - hopefully yours has the inline fuse. but since its scrolling, that (pwr) should be fine. mine will go into demo mode by powering up holding pwr button a couple secs. the HB seems to have problems with fogging up, in case that is causing a problem. it would be easy to isolate trouble if you could take your DF unit and plug into the quick connect mount on a friends boat....or do same with your xducer...
